THE MEANING OF KUNDALINI;-
07 FACTS;-
1-The concept of Kundalini is mentioned in the Upanishads . The Sanskrit adjective kuṇḍalin means "circular, annular". It is mentioned as a noun for "snake" in the sense "coiled" . . Kuṇḍa -a noun meaning "bowl, water-pot" is found as the name of a Naga in Mahabharata.
2-The use of kuṇḍalī as a name for Goddess Durga (a form of Shakti) appears often in Tantrism and Shaktism from as early as the 11th century .It was adopted as a technical term in Hatha yoga during the 15th century, and became widely used in the Yoga Upanishads by the 16th century.
3-Kundalini is the latent energy force present in each of us in her microcosmic aspect, symbolised in the form of a sleeping serpent ,and yogis teach that this force needs to be raised from its lowest residence, passing through various stations, called chakras,to the highest, where lord shiva himself resides.
4-When she does reach the summit and merge into her lord, one is supposed to be 'enlightened',having really found himself (that's why you may have noticed a portayal of a serpent head over the head of many of our saints...)
5-And this whole inner journey of arousing the energy and raising it to its highest potential, is supposed to be the summary purpose of human evolvement to a higher being, carefully systemized under Sahaj/ Raja Yoga etc.
6-And this divine power, itself permeates both the inner and the outer world, and, speaking of the outer, or macrocosmic dimension of the force, while Tibet ,Egypt, and many other civilizations learnt of the force, even the gnostics of western tradition knew of it.
7-But the ancient indian science of spirituality ,is now becoming truly becoming international. We can say kundalini has risen above geographical boundaries ,in her macrocosmic arousal and we find a whole lot of literature, search and teaching going on the world over.
WHAT IS KUNDALINI?--
05 FACTS;-
1-The stories about Kundalini are many. In your house, there is a plug-point in the wall. This plug-point does not actually produce any power. There is a huge power station elsewhere that is producing power, but it cannot give you that power directly. It is the plug-point that gives you access. Though most people have not even thought about the power station and have no concept of what it is, they know that if they plug an appliance into the plug-point, the appliance will run.
2-Similarly, there is a “plug-point” within the human body. It is not a 3-pin point, it is a 5-pin point. You might have heard of the seven chakras. The muladhara is like a plug-point. That is why it is known as muladhara. Muladhara means “fundamental” or “basic.” Five of the remaining six chakras are the plug.
3- The seventh chakra,is known as the sahasrar. It is like a light bulb.If you plug it in, everything about you glows. If you are properly plugged in, keeping the lights on 24 hours of the day is not an issue anymore. You don’t have to turn off your power because you are worried the battery might run out. You can just keep it on blatantly, recklessly, because you are plugged into the power source.
4-Unfortunately, most human beings are not plugged in. They are trying to generate their own power. So they eat five times a day, but still they are tired most of the time. It is a struggle to keep life going. Energy is not just in terms of physical energy or activity, energy is in terms of life. Existence is energy . The basis of existence is energy.
5- If you know that basis, it is like knowing the foundations of life. If you understand the ways of the energy, you know the whole mechanics of creation. So if you are plugged in, you know what the power is, what it can do and what you can make out of it. You are plugged into an endless source of power – that is what is Kundalini.
IS THERE A METHOD TO PLUG INTO KUNDALINI ?--
04 FACTS;-
1-To plug in an appliance, There is a method. In the same way, to put the 5-point plug into the plug-point ,there is a method .It is difficult for a lot of people because there is no steadiness in their body, their mind, their emotions or their energies. Yoga is a means to get the necessary steadiness so that you can plug it in. Once you plug it in – you receive a boundless energy. You don’t have to go and learn about or understand the power station.
2-Yoga is the science of getting the plug properly in so that there is an uninterrupted source of power. Once you are connected to this uninterrupted source of power, naturally you will proceed towards the goal of what life is longing for. You will not get lost with your fancy ideas, dreams, thoughts, emotions or entanglements of the world.
3-A human being is an “organic atom”, an individual unit of life. For example, today, human beings are exploring atomic science. An atom is not even visible to you, but if you smash it, something tremendous happens. And if you are in the way, something terrible will happen. No one ever realized that there could be so much energy packed into this tiny, little atom until they broke it.
4-Similarly, there is a tremendous amount of energy packed into a human being. The Kundalini awakening or rising means you have found the technology of tapping into that energy. If you tap into this dimension of energy, which is a phenomenal force, you must be on stable ground. But don't forget; It is a tremendous thing but anything which is tremendous has to be conducted in utmost care and caution.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF KUNDALINI AWAKENING?--
16 FACTS;-
1-The Kundalini, when awakened, is the giver of all power, health, wealth and success. The Kundalini feeds the baby in the mother's womb. She fulfills our every desire. She is the All in All."The Kundalini, has three angles as well as three circles, and her Bhupura is three-lined. Her Mantra is three syllables, and she has three aspects. The Kundalini energy is also threefold in order that she may create the three Gods (Brahma, the Creator, or air; Vishnu, the Preserver, or water: Rudra, the Destroyer, or fire). Since she is triple everywhere, she is Tripura."
2-The Kundalini is Divine static( forces in equilibrium) and dynamic energy. The static energy (Kundalini), is sleeping at the Muladhara (Root Chakra); But the dynamic energy of the Kundalini is all over the body as Prana, Apana, Samana, Vyana, and Udana.
3-These five Vital breaths, or life forces, keep the body together.Prana remains in the upper part of the body, and always moves upward; the Apana resides in the lower part of the body, or abdomen, and always flows downward; the Samana stays in the first section of the torso, digesting and distributing the food substances; the Vyana resides in the heart, and from there moves all over the body, its duty being the circulation of the blood; the Udana carries the Soul upward when the body dies.
4-The practice of Pranayama is also to control the Prana, Apana, etc.—the dynamic energy of the Kundalini, and with itawaken the static energy of the Kundalini, which is sleeping at the Muladhara, or root Chakra.
5-When the five Pranas are controlled or made to stop at the desired place, the Muladhara Chakra, or at the door of the Sushumana, it will work like a spark to the static energy of the Kundalini.
6-"When Prana and Apana are mixed, it will naturally cause heat in the body; then the body becomes light and powerful. This extreme heat when felt by the Kundalini, causes her to awaken from sleep. Then she goes into the Sushumana."
7-The duty of the Yogin is to gather together or control the five Pranas—the life force of the Kundalini—that the dynamic energy of the Kundalini may be used to awaken the static energy of it, as one Kundalini energy will move the other energy.
8-When the Kundalini awakens or moves, She will go to the Six Chakras and also remain at her place. As steam is converted from water by heat and again returns to it, so rises the dynamic energy of the Kundalini, which goes up to the different Chakras and returns again and again.
9-While she will reach to the Sahasrara, still she will be at her home at the Muladhara Chakra.
10-The Kundalini power can only be known by Master Yogins, but some times even ordinary Yogins can see it, however not as clearly, as long as the inner eye is not open. When the Yogin has opened the inner eye, then he sees the different Chakras and the energy of the Kundalini, which is Life of Life, and Light of Lights.
11-The same polarity of Shakti into a static and a dynamic partner—viz., the positive charge at rest at the centre, and the negative charges in motion round about the centre; a. most suggestive analogy (similarity )or illustration, perhaps, of the cosmic fact. The illustration may be carried into other domains of science. and philosophy. The constitution (fundamental set of laws) of an atom reveals the static-dynamic polarisation of Shakti.
12-"Shakti, as manifesting itself in the universe, divides itself into two polar aspects—static and dynamic—which implies that you cannot have it in a dynamic form without at the same time having it in a corresponding static form, much like the poles of a magnet. In any given sphere of activity of force we must have, according to this cosmic principle, a static background—Shakti at rest or 'coiled', as the Tantras say.
13-Mother Kali is a symbol of the cosmic truth just explained. Sadashiva, on whose cheast She dances, nude and dark, is the static background of pure Chit, white and inert (Shavarupa), because pure Chit is in itself Svaprakasha (self manifest) and Nishkriya (actionless).
14-At the same time, apart from and beyond Consciousness there can be nothing—no power or Shakti—hence the Divine Mother stands on the bosom( the place where our feelings reside)of the Divine Father. The Mother Herself is all activity and Gunamayi (in Her aspect as Prakriti composed of the Gunas).
15-Her nakedness means that, though She encompasses( to include different types of things) all, there is nothing to encompass Herself; her darkness means that She is inscrutable (mysterious) , beyond the reach of thought and speech. Of course, this is no partition of reality into two (there lies the imperfection of the Sangkhya doctrine of Purusha and Prakriti, which is otherwise right), but merely polarisation in our experience of an indivisible( incapable of being divided) fact which is the primordial (Adya) Shakti itself.
16-Thus Chit is also Shakti. Shiva is Shakti and Shakti is Shiva, as the Tantras say. It is Gunashraya (support of Gunas) as well as Gunamaya (whose substance is Gunas); Nirguna (attributeless) as well as Saguna (with attribute), as said in a well-known passage of the Chandi.
The additional benefits of kundalini power awakening include:Boosts performance of chakras and balances them ;Connects with universal Consciousness; Increases sense of perception ;Promotes psychic abilities ;Enhances spiritual experiences ;Improves intelligence ;Promotes sense of calm ;Boosts cardiovascular and respiratory function.
