1-Shiva's third eye is also sometimes known as the eye of wisdom. The right and left eye represent His activities in the physical world while the third eye symbolises His spiritual wisdom and power. Through His third eye, Lord Shiva is able to see beyond the apparent and destroy all evil.

2-It is mentioned in the Vedas that the supreme spirit willed that there may be creation he brought creation into existence with the word OM, from OM came the five elements first came space then air , fire , water and earth.

2-1-Nothing can exists without space; so space is created first ;which is filled with air. Fire cannot come into existence without air, from fire water is born (water vapour) and from water earth is produced.Rudra is fire, Vishnu is water and Brahma is earth.This was also the order in which the Tridev were created.Many people assume that because of His destructive 'third eye', Lord Shiva is known as the destroyer.

Mystics employ the first eye (sensory input such as sight) and the second eye (the eye of reason, meditation, and reflection), "but they know not to confuse knowledge with depth, or mere correct information with the transformation of consciousness itself. The mystical gaze builds upon the first two eyes—and yet goes further." to this level of awareness as "having the mind of Christ"

8-In Theosophy(ब्रह्मविद्या) it is related to the pineal gland. According to this belief, humans had in far ancient times an actual third eye in the back of the head with a physical and spiritual function. Over time, as humans evolved, this eye atrophied and sunk into what today is known as the pineal gland.

9-The third eye is in fact the partially dormant pineal gland, which resides between the two hemispheres of the

brain.A structure associated with the pineal gland ,can sense the polarization of light.As C.W. Leadbeater claimed that by extending an "etheric tube" from the third eye, it is possible to develop microscopic and telescopic vision which is capable of observing objects as small as quarks.

1. The secret behind Lord Shiva’s third eye;-

The secret behind Lord Shiva’s third eye has always fascinated people. It stands there dramatically on his forehead ready to release a missile of fire and destroy the world. Many people assume that is why Shiva is called the `destroyer’. He is often referred to as Tryambaka Deva, meaning “three-eyed Lord”. The sun is said to be his right eye, the moon the left eye while fire is his third eye. While his other two eyes indicate his activity in the physical world, his third eye looks beyond the obvious.

2. The Third Eye in Hinduism and Buddhism;-

As the traditions change, the meaning of the third eye also changes. Here, are some of the common old and new concepts about the third eye in Hinduism and Buddhism. The third eye is the eye of spiritual wisdom and knowledge. It is believed that Lord Shiva uses the third eye to see beyond the apparent and protect the good ones from the evildoers. All the evil and the ignorance vanish as the third eye opens.

3. The Buddha’s third eye of higher consciousness;-

In Buddhism, the third eye refers to Eye of Consciousness, which asks followers to see the world beyond their physical eyes. It advises people to see the world with their mind. In certain Eastern and Western spiritual traditions, the third eye is the gate that leads the followers within to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. In the new concept, the third eye symbolizes a state of enlightenment.

4. Modern concepts about third eye in Hinduism and Buddhism;--

As per the modern spirituality, the third eye is a symbol of enlightenment. It is often referred to as “gyananakashu”, (the eye of knowledge). In Indian and East Asian iconography, the third eye is the “Ajna chakra” or the sixth chakra. It is also known as brow chakra or brow center. The third eye, or “Eye of Wisdom”, or, in Buddhism, the urna, is denoted by a dot, or mark on the forehead in the deities of Shiva or Buddha.

5. Third eye not related with Shiva’s rage?;-

Many assume that this eye opens when Shiva is angry. Typically, in modern dance ballets based on Shiva’s sacred lore, one often finds drums beating frantically and the actor playing Shiva dancing fiercely, going all around the stage rather energetically, expressing Shiva’s rage and sorrow at the death of his spouse, threatening to destroy all by opening his third eye, until all the gods salute him, sing songs to his glory and beg him to calm down.But a reading of Shiva’s lore reveals something different.

Lord Shiva is the AadiYogi which means He is meditating from the beginning of time. So, His third eye is activated. His third eye is the store of the immense Yogic energies which only Lord Shiva can possess.

6- WhenShiva became the destroyer…

When Devta send Kama, the god of lust, to raise his sugarcane bow, pull his bowstring buzzing with bees and shoot flowery darts of desire into Shiva’s heart. This is done. Unfortunately, the result is not quite what anyone expects. Instead of opening his eyes and expressing his desire for Parvati, Shiva opens a third eye, in the centre of the forehead and out comes a missile of fire that sets Kama aflame. Before Parvati’s horrified eyes, Kama is reduced to a pile of ashes. It is then that Shiva gets the name destroyer.

6-1- For by destroying Kama, Shiva destroys not just desire but the very principle that keeps the whole world alive. Without desire, the bee will not go to the flower, the bull will not go to the cow. There will be no pollination, no reproduction. If animals do not mate, there will be no life. There will be no renewal, no resurrection, no regeneration. Spring will not follow winter. The world will transform into a wasteland. 7-Shiva is significant because he perceived what most human beings failed to perceive. What is unseen for a large segment of humanity became a normal part of his vision. That is what the third eye means.

7-1-People say when Shiva opened his third eye, fire came out of it. This fire indicates that within himself, he burnt everything that he thought mattered to him. Within himself, he became a kiln(a furnac) that burnt everything that can be burnt. And then, from every pore of his body, instead of sweat and blood, ash came out. This is to indicate that he burnt every shred of ignorance – everything that one believes as true. Once this was done, the opening of the third eye could not be denied to him. 8-The Two Ways of opening the third eye;-- There are two ways of opening the third eye. One way is, the inside has become a total vacuum so the doorway gets sucked in and has to naturally open. The doorway becomes limp(walk with difficulty) and falls inward because there is nothing. Shiva has burnt not only his thought, his emotion, his relationships and possessions – he has burnt his very being. There is a total vacuum. So the door fell inward and opened. 8-1-Another way of opening the third eye is you contain everything inside. You do not find any expression for your thought, emotion or anything else. You could not even utter a word. You will see, if you remain silent for four days, on the fifth day you will suddenly feel like singing. If you do not know how to sing, you will want to howl because you want to let go. But if you do not let anything go, so much pressure will build up that the door will get knocked open from inside. This is another way. 9-The Middle Path-- However, if you are diplomatic, if you believe in the middle path, that means you do not wish to go anywhere. People who believe in the middle path are determined not to get anywhere in their life. The middle path is just your comfort zone, neither this nor that. It means you are a full-time bull-shitter. It does not matter where you go, you do your own stuff – that is the middle path.

So, either you become empty and the sheer power of vacuum will open it, or you build a pressure in you and it will burst open – these are the two ways. 9-3-The first way is a better option because if you open the door by building pressure, it may open up today and shut itself tomorrow. Or, before enough pressure builds up, something else may freak in you and you may run away. It is a lot of torture not letting a single thought or emotion find expression, not uttering a single word, not finding expression to a single opinion or idea that arises in your mind. It can make you burst! But if you do hold everything intact, the third eye will open. 10.Shiva’s third eye represents the rejection of desire. It is the eye that killed Kama, the principle that makes the world go round. And why does Shiva reject desire? Because he realized what desire can do – when the object of desire (Sati) goes away, there is immense sorrow and rage. 11-Desire not only evokes positive emotions (love, affection, contentment, compassion), it also evokes negative emotions (anger, dissatisfaction, sorrow). Shiva therefore shies away from it, preferring the cold still mountains which represent the state of transcendence or ananda – where there is no tumult of emotions, just stillness, silence and bliss 12-This story also depicts the dark side of the third eye which rejects all worldly desires because the desires are also important for the survival of a human being. Without desire the world will come to stand still. There would be no reproduction, no regeneration. Hence, the third eye of Lord Shiva has a great significance and is a source of great knowledge for humankind. SIGNIFICANCE OF THIRD EYE;---

07 POINTS;- 1-Shiva has always been referred to as Triambaka because he has a third eye. The third eye does not mean someone’s forehead cracked and something came out! It simply means another dimension of perception has opened up. If your perception has to evolve and enhance itself, the most important thing is that your energy has to evolve and enhance itself.

2-The whole process of yoga is to evolve and refine your energies in such a way that your perception is enhanced and the third eye opens. 3-The third eye is the eye of vision. The two physical eyes are just sensory organs. They feed the mind with all kinds of nonsense, because what you see is not the truth. 4-You see this person or that person and you think something about him, but you are not able to see the Shiva in him. You see things the way it is necessary for your survival. Another creature sees it another way, as is necessary for its survival.

5-This is why we say this world is maya. Maya means it is illusory. We are not saying that existence is illusory. We are only saying the way you are perceiving it is illusory. 6-So another eye, an eye of deeper penetration, has to be opened up. The third eye means your perception has gone beyond the dualities of life. You are able to see life just the way it is, not just the way that is necessary for your survival.
