THE MEANING OF SHIVLINGAM?- 10 FACTS;- 1-Lord Shiva is worshipped as a spherical stone which is kept in the sanctum of the worship site. Shiva was worshiped not only in India and Sri Lanka but in many countries of the world outside of India.Shiva worship was practiced all over the world, thousands of evidence has spread about this 2-.The Lingam is shaped like an egg and represents the ‘Brahmanda’ or the cosmic egg. There are two types of Shiva Lingam. One is a black meteorite egg-shaped stone. It is said that such a stone is installed at Kabba in Mecca. 2-1-The other one is man-made and is solidified mercury. Solidifying mercury is an ancient Vedic science. Shiva Lingam represents the totality of the Cosmos and the Cosmos, in turn, being represented as a Cosmic Egg. 3-Shivling represents the holy powers of both Lord Shiva's creative and destructive nature.Shiva means 'Param Kalyanakari Shubh' and 'Ling' means 'Creation Jyoti' .4-'Ling' means the meaning of Jyoti and Shiva. The meaning of 'Shivaling' - the eternal and eternal form of Lord Shiva. Being a symbol of zero, sky, infinite, cosmos and formless God, it has been called 'Ling'. 5-The word 'gender' in Vedas and Vedanta comes to the astral body. This subtle body is made up of 17 elements. 1. Mind, 2. IQ, 3. Five Gyanendrians, 4. Five Karmindrias and five Air Our soul in the midst of Bhrukuti or say that we ourselves are like this. 6-Swami Vivekananda also known it as infinite Brahma. The shape-type of Shivling is like our galaxy roaming in the universe. This Shivaling symbolizes the objects roaming in our universe. 7-According to Vedantic, Jyotirling means 'broad Brahmthling' which means 'wide light' According to Shiva Purana, Brahma, Maya, Jivas, mind, intellect, mind, ego, sky, air, fire, water and earth are called Jyotirling or Jyoti body. 8-Skanda Puran states that the sky is self-gender. Earth is its back or base, and it is said to be 'gender' due to its being endless, due to its being created from infinite zeros. 9-The axis / spindle of the Earth spaced around the environment or all the infinite universe (the universe is moving) is the same gender. 10-Shivaling is considered to be a symbol of sound and point. In the Puranas, it has been called astrology. A SYMBOL WHICH POINTS TO AN INFERENCE ( conclusion )BUT MISINTERPRETED;- 10 FACTS;- 1-However, some people misinterpret their meaning. According to him, this symbolizes the genitals of the man and the man, whereas according to Shiva Purana it is a symbol of light. 2-The popular belief among foreigners is that the Shiva-Linga represents the phallus or the virile organ, the emblem of the generative power or principle in nature. This is not only a serious mistake, but a grave blunder. 3-In the post-Vedic period, the Linga became symbolical of the generative power of Lord Shiva. Linga is the differentiating mark. It is certainly not the sex mark. 4-It is a comical to believe that Shivling is a representation of Lord Shiva as a penis or prevalent. ACCORDING TO Puranas, Shivaling has also been addressed by many other names, such as Lighthouse Ling, Agni Pillar Ling, Energy Column Ling, Cosmic Column Ling etc. 5-But in the Buddhist period, due to the mischief of religion and scriptures, the gender was started in a wrong way, which is still in vogue. 6-Since Lord Shiva is described as having no form, it is ridiculous to maintain that Lingam represents a phallus. This is the reason why Swami Vivekananda described Shiva Lingam as the symbol of the Eternal Brahman, 7-when a German Orientalist, Gusta Oppert traced it to phallicism. SWAMI VIVEKANANDA cited 'Atharva Veda' that the worship of Shiva Lingam was sung in praise of sacrificial post – a description of beginning-less and endless of the Eternal Brahman and refuted it as an imaginary invention. 8- ACCORDING TO '' Linga Purana'' ''The foremost Linga which is primary and is devoid of smell, colour, taste, hearing, touch, etc., is spoken of as Prakriti (Nature).'' 9-Linga means a mark, in Sanskrit. It is a symbol which points to an inference. When you see a big flood in a river,you infer that there had been heavy rains the previous day. 10-When you see smoke, you infer that there is fire. This vast world of countless forms is a Linga of the omnipotent Lord. SHIVLINGAM IS WORSHIPPED ALL ACROSS THE GLOBE; SOME UNKNOWN TRUTHS;- 11 FACTS;- 1-A look at the curved, oval, iconic representation of Shiva Lingam placed on a globular base, which is found in the Sanctum Sanctorum (Garbhagraha) of all Shiva temples, has given rise to diverse explanations, without comprehending the scientific truths revealed by the ancient Hindu sages. 2-The practice of worshiping Shiva Lingam as the holy symbol of Lord Shiva exists since time immemorial and crosses all boundaries. Read on to know some mind-blowing theories… 3-Shiva Lingam was worshipped all across the globe... The worship of Shiva Lingam was not confined to India and Sri Lanka only. Lingam was referred to ‘Prayapas’ by the Romans who introduced the worship of Shiva Lingam to European countries. 4-Shiva Lingams were found in the archaeological findings in Babylon, ancient Mesopotamia. 5-Further, the archaeological discoveries in Harappa-Mohenjo-Daro yielded numerous Shiva Lingam statutes, which disclose the existence of a highly evolved culture long before the Aryan’s immigration. 6-In County Meath, Ireland, on the Hill of Tara sits a mysterious stone known as the Lia Fáil (Stone of Destiny). This stone was brought to Ireland by the Tuatha Dé Danann - supernaturally gifted people. Some speculate it was they who brought the power to make bronze to Ireland. They were the main deities of pre-Christian Gaelic Ireland.The Christian monks viewed the stone as a pagan stone idol symbolic of fertility. This stone was so important that it was used for the coronation of all Irish Kings up until 500 AD. 7-Vietnam was the home to a vibrant Vedic civilization. Many spectacular temples and sculptures still remain to this day .Throughout Vietnam many ancient Shiva Lingas have been found, dating back thousands of years. This is further proof of the vast extent of Vedic culture throughout the world. 8-In 1940, archaeologist M.S. Vats discovered three Shiva Lingas at Harappa, dating more than 5,000 years old. This rare archival photo shows that ancient Shiva Linga as it was being excavated from the Harappa site. 9-There is Shiva in Kailasha and there is Shiva in Kashi and now in Africa too. The discovery of a Shiva idol in South Africa is the proof that 6000 years ago Africans used to worship him. Archeologists have found 6000 year old Shivalinga in a cave named Sudwara in South Africa and it is made of hard granite stone. The archeologists are amazed that how the Shivalinga survived there for so long. 10-Lord Shiva and Roman God Neptune....Notice the trident on this statue of Neptune, typical of Shiva. The trident is an emblem of Lord Shiva. Neptune is also seen here standing on an entity in which case Shiva is also seen at times standing on the being of ignorance, illusion, or maya, showing that he is not affected by the power of the illusory energy. Neptune's hand is raised in a calming gesture, and when Shiva's hand is raised it signifies abhaya or giving blessings and represents sthiti, or preservation and protection. 11-Thus, anyone familiar with Vedic culture will realize that he is styled in a similar way to Lord Shiva. This shows how the impressions of Vedic culture and its gods came from India, though styles and names may have changed as it traveled west. THE SCIENCE & DIVINITY BEHIND SHIVLINGAM ;- 07 FACTS;- 1-Shiva Lingam represents the totality of the Cosmos and the Cosmos, in turn, being represented as a Cosmic Egg. A glance at the image of Shiva Lingam shows there is a pillar with three marks and a Disc beneath it and sometimes with a coiling cobra snake around the Pillar and shows its fangs above the pillar. 2-In those(Vedic) days instead of using these English words such as Proton, Neutron, Electron, Molecules and Energy, the ancient sages employed the usage of the words like Lingam, Vishnu, Brahma, Shakthi (which in turn is divided into Renuka and Rudrani), Sarppa, etc. as Sanskrit was the dominant language in those periods. 3-'Linga' in Sankrit means form or mark and it is shaped like an egg and represents the ‘Brahmanda’ or the cosmic egg. Thus it represents elliptical form of divinity. A glance at the image of Shiva Lingam shows there is a pillar with three marks and a disc beneath it called 'Peetham' and with a coiling cobra snake around the Pillar. 4-Shiva being worshipped as Linga means the Consciousness in its primordial form where consciousness is entering into the Eternal Energy (Shakti). 5-The Shiva linga is often a pillar of light. In special Vedic fire rituals, the fire could be made to rise in the shape of a pillar which could also then take the shape of a man! In fact, the term Dharma originally refers to what upholds things and can be symbolized by a pillar. The Shiva linga is the universal pillar of Dharma. The pillar is also an inner symbol indicating the erect spine and concentrated mind. 6-In Ayurvedic healing, the creation of the Prana linga or concentration of Prana at a subtle level is what allows deep healing and rejuvenation to occur. In Vedic astrology, the Shiva linga represents the power of light behind the Sun, Moon, planets and stars. 7-In Vastu Shastra, the Shiva linga is used to stabilize the spiritual and vital energy in a house, as a conduit of cosmic forces. IS LINGAM A POWERFUL AID TO CONCENTRATION?- 05 FACTS;- `1-Base of the ligna is called 'Peetham' and Coiled Cobra snake represents the 'Kundalini' shakti or feminine principle of the divinity whom we refer as Mother goddess. Three rows on pillar represents 'Brahma', Vishnu and Mahesh - different aspects of the divinity. 2-When un-manifest energy begins to manifest itself, the first form is always the Linga. The word Linga means the form. Linga means a perfect ellipsoid(a three-dimensional figure) .Thus the first form is a Linga and the final form before dissolution is also a Linga. If you become meditative, your energies will naturally take the form of a Linga. 3- Thus Linga means the place of dissolution for the world and all beings. It signifies also Satya, Jnana and Ananta—Truth, knowledge and Infinity. It indicates that Lord Shiva is endowed with all-pervading and self-luminous nature. 4-There is a mysterious power or indescribable Shakti in the Linga to induce concentration of the mind.Just as the mind is focussed easily in crystal gazing, so also the mind attains one-pointedness when it looks at the Linga. 5-That is the reason why the ancient Rishis of India and the seers have prescribed Linga for being installed in the temples of Lord Shiva. DOES LINGAM REPRESENTS THE FORMLESS SHIVA?-- 05 FACTS;- 1-The Shiva-Linga is a symbol of Lord Shiva. When you look at the Linga, your mind is at once elevated and you begin to think of the Lord. 2-Lord Shiva is really formless. He has no form of His own; and yet, all forms are His forms.All forms are pervaded by Lord Shiva.Every form is the form or Linga of Lord Shiva. 3-Shiva-Linga speaks to you in unmistakable language of silence: "I am one without a second. I am formless." Pure, pious souls only can understand this language. 4- A curious, passionate, impure foreigner of little understanding or intelligence says sarcastically: "Oh! The Hindus worship the phallus or sex-organ.''They are ignorant people.When a foreigner tries to learn the Tamil or Hindi language, he first tries to pick up some vulgar words. This is his curiosity-nature. Even so, the curious foreigner tries to find out some defect in the worship of symbols. 5-Linga is only the outward symbol of the formless being. Lord Shiva, who is the indivisible, all-pervading,eternal,auspicious, ever-pure,immortal essence of this vast universe, who is the undying soul seated in the chambers of your heart, who is your Indweller, innermost Self or Atman and who is identical with the Supreme Brahman. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE MYSTIC SHAKTI IN THE BLOCK OF STONE;- 04 FACTS;- 1-For a sincere devotee, the Linga is not a block of stone. It is all radiant Tejas or Chaitanya. 2-The Linga talks to him, makes him shed profuse tears, produces compilation (treasury)and melting of heart, raises him above body-consciousness, and helps to commune with the Lord and attain Nirvikalpa Samadhi. 3-Lord Rama worshipped the Shiva-Linga at Ramesvar. Ravana, a learned scholar, worshipped the golden Linga. What a lot of mystic Shakti there should be in the Linga! 4-Shiva which helps concentration of mind and which serves as a prop(support ) for the mind to lean upon, in the beginning, for the neophytes(a new convert to a religion). CONFIGURATION OF SHIVLINGA; - 04 FACTS;- 1-Shiva Lingam consists of three parts. The bottom part which is four-sided remains underground, the middle part which is eight-sided remains on a pedestal. The top part, which is actually worshipped, is round. The height of the round part is one-third of its circumference. 2-The three parts symbolize Brahma at the bottom, Vishnu in the middle and Shiva on the top. The pedestal is provided with a passage for draining away the water that is poured on the top. On the forehead of Shiva there are 3 lines (Tripurund) and 1 point, these lines are evenly marked on Shivling. 3-In the sanctum sanctorum of all Shiva temples is seen as a curved and oval shaped Shivling in the middle of the circular base. 4-After explaining the scientific secrets of the universe by the ancient sages and monks, this explanation has been given in a variety of ways to reveal this truth. TYPES OF SHIVLINGAS; - 04 FACTS;- 1-Shivaling represents the totality of the universe and the universe. The universe is oval, which looks like an oval shaped shivaling. Shivaling represents the shape of the 'universe' or cosmic egg. 2-Shivaling is mainly of 2 types - the first celestial or meteor shivling and the second parad shivaling. 3-Like the first meteorite, the black oval is shaped. Such a Shivalinga is installed in Kaaba of Mecca, which was dropped from the sky. Such Shivalinga is called jyothirling in India itself. 4-Shivaling is made from second man-made mercury. This is called 'Parad Shivaling'. Parad science is ancient Vedic science. Apart from this, according to the Puranas, there are six types of Shivling chiefs. SIX TYPES OF SHIVLINGAS; - 1. DEV LINGAS; - The Shivling that has been established by the Gods or other creatures is called Devalinga. At present, the origin of the land is traditionally worshipped for the gods. 2. Asura LINGAS; Asura-lingas are those installed by the class of the wicked titans (known as asuras) but were pious and zealous devotees of Shiva (like Ravana) 3. Arsh Ling: This kind of gender was worshiped by saints like Agastya Muni in ancient times. 4. PURAN LINGAS;- Shivaling established by the people of the mythical period has been called Puran Shivalinga. This gender is worshiped by the Puranas. 5. MANUSHA -LINGAS;- In ancient times or medieval times, the gender set up by historical great men, nobles and king-kings is said to be human being Shivlinga. 6.SWAYAMBHU LINGAS;- Svayambhu-lingas are the forms which Shiva assumed to manifest himself. As a boon, where Shiva himself appeared. IS SPHATIKALINGAM— A SYMBOL OF THE NIRGUNA BRAHMAN?-
03 FACTS;- 1-Sphatikalingam is also a symbol of Lord-Shiva. This is prescribed for Aradhana or worship of Lord Shiva. 2-It is made up of quartz. It has no colour of its own, but takes on the colour of the substances which come in contact with it. 3-It represents the Nirguna Brahman or the attribute-less Supreme Self, or the formless and attributeless Shiva. May we all attain the formless Shiva through the worship of the Linga, the symbol of Lord... ....SHIVOHAM.........
