THE PRIME MERIDIAN/ GREENWICH MERIDIAN ;- 07 FACTS;- 1-We all know that the Earth is round and that it takes 24 hours to complete one rotation around the sun. The side facing the sun for half a day / half a rotation is in daylight, while the side facing away has night. People living in different parts of the world cannot have the same time. 2-Countries all over the world are divided into 24 time zones, based on longitudinal lines. Greenwich Mean Time; or GMT is the clock time at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London. GMT is now-a-days also referred to as Universal Coordinated Time, or UTC. 3-When the sun is at its highest point over the Prime Meridian, it is 12:00 noon at Greenwich. 4-A prime meridian is a meridian (a line of longitude) in a geographical coordinate system at which longitude is defined to be 0°. Together, a prime meridian and its antimeridian (the 180th meridian in a 360°-system) form a great circle. This great circle divides the sphere, e.g., the Earth, into two hemispheres. If one uses directions of East and West from a defined prime meridian, then they can be called Eastern Hemisphere and Western Hemisphere. 5-Equator is an imaginary line that divides the Earth into two parts – Northern and Southern Hemispheres.Greenwich Mean Time, it also sits at the centre of our system of time zones. 6-Similarly, we also have another imaginary line called the Prime Meridian that divides the Earth into Eastern and Western Hemispheres. At times, it is also referred to as the Greenwich Meridian. 7-This imaginary line passes through three continents – Europe, Africa and Antarctica and four major countries – United Kingdom, France, Spain and Western Africa. The Prime Meridian, as it passes through Greenwich, England, is considered 0 degrees longitude. IN SPIRITUAL TERM;- 06 FACTS;- 1-A line of longitude-Spinal cord of human body 2-A prime meridian and its antimeridian (the 180th meridian in a 360°-system)-- .The Crown Chakra & Root Chakra 3-Equator ,at the centre of our system-Heart chakra in human body 4-Equator separates north from south-Heart chakra separates north from south,i.e.upper chakras from lower chakras. 5-Three Continents – Europe, Africa and Antarctica-Trigunas (Sattva, Raja and Tama) 6- And Four Major Countries-Four Purusarthas are Dharma (righteousness, moral values), Artha (prosperity, economic values), Kama (pleasure, love, psychological values) and Moksha (liberation, spiritual values). 2-HOW MANY TIME ZONES ARE IN GEOGRAPHIC GRID ? 05 FACTS;- 1-If you look at a globe, you will notice some lines drawn on it vertically as well as horizontally. These lines are imaginary lines and are known as the geographic grid. This grid system was created in order to easily describe a location on the Earth. 2-The geographic grid is made up of lines of latitude, also known as parallels, and lines of longitude, also known as meridians. 3-As Earth rotates on its axis, it moves about 15 degrees every 60 minutes. After 24 hours, it has completed a full circle rotation of 360 degrees. The scientists used this information to divide the planet into 24 sections or time zones. Each time zone is 15 degrees of longitude wide. 4-If each time zone were 1 hour apart, there would be 24 in the world. But several time zones have only 30 and 45 minutes offsets, making the total number worldwide much high. 5-However, the International Date Line (IDL) creates 3 more. Also, several time zones are only 30 or 45 minutes apart, increasing the total number of standard time zones even further. 3-WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LATITUDES & LONGITUDE ?-- 03 FACTS;- 1-Lines of Longitude are known as meridians. Although only a few lines of latitude and longitude are shown on globes and maps, their number is infinite. 2-Latitude is an imaginary line north or south of the equator. Longitude is an imaginary line drawn east or west of Prime Meridian. Prime Meridian is also called 0 degree longitude which pass through from north to south at Greenwich.
3-Latitude of any point on earth must be some degrees north or south in between 0 to 90 degrees. Similarly Longitude of that point must be either east or west between 0 to 180 degrees. With proper latitude and longitude it becomes easier to properly mark a point on earth. These lines also provide benefit in studying world climates, seasons and other geographical features. 4-WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF TROPICS OF CANCER,& THE TROPICS OF CAPRICORN ?-
04 FACTS;- 1-The Tropic of Cancer is the circle marking the latitude 23.5 degrees north, where the sun is directly overhead at noon on June 21, the beginning of summer in the northern hemisphere. 2-The Tropic of Capricorn is the circle marking the latitude 23.5 degrees south where the sun is directly overhead at noon on December 21, the beginning of winter in the northern hemisphere. 3-When the lines were named 2000 years ago, the Sun was in the constellation of Capricorn during the winter solstice and Cancer during the summer solstice (hence the names). Now due to the precession of the equinoxes the Sun is no longer in these constellations during these times, but the names remain. 4-The equator is the circle where the Sun is directly overhead at noon on the equinox ;which is either of the two times each year (as about March 21 and September 23) when the sun crosses the equator and day and night are everywhere on earth of approximately equal length. . IN SPIRITUAL TERM;-
05 FACTS;- 1-The Tropic of Cancer belongs to ;- Lower Chakras /the Left Channel /Ida Nadi/Kaph Prakriti & Southern Hemisphere. 2-The Tropic of Capricorn belongs to;- Upper Chakras//the Right Channel /Pingala Nadi/ Pitta Prakriti &.Northern Hemisphere. 3-A Prime Meridian belongs to ;--The Central/Sushumna Nadi /Vatt Prakriti & Equator. 4-A few lines of latitude and longitude are shown on globes and maps, their number is Infinite-.The 72,000 nadis spring from three basic nadis Ida, Pingala & Sushumna. 5-DO THE EQUATOR,THE TROPICS OF CANCER,& THE TROPICS OF CAPRICORN HAVE ASSOCIATION WITH SUSHUMNA,IDA,& PINGALA NADI RESPCTIVELY ? 09 FACTS;- 1-Within the spine, if you know its physical construction, you will know there are two holes on either side of the spine which are like conduit pipe (a passage for water or electrical wires to go through) pipes for all the nerves to pass. This is the Ida and the Pingala, the left and the right channels. 2-In the Pranamayakosha or the energy body, there are 72,000 nadis. The 72,000 nadis spring from three basic nadis – the left, the right and the central – the Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna. 3-The word “nadi” does not mean nerve. Nadis are pathways or channels of prana in the system. These 72,000 nadis don’t have a physical manifestation. In the sense, if you cut the body and look in, you will not find them. But as you become more aware, you will notice the energy is not moving at random, it is moving in established pathways. There are 72,000 different ways in which the energy or prana moves. 4-The Ida and Pingala represent the basic duality in the existence. It is this duality which we traditionally personify as Shiva and Shakti. Or we can simply call it masculine and feminine, or it can be the logical and the intuitive aspect of you. It is based on this that life is created. Without these two dualities, life wouldn’t exist as it does right now. 5-In the beginning, everything is primordial, there is no duality. But once creation happens, there is duality. 6-Masculine and feminine, don't mean about being male or female – but in terms of certain qualities in nature. Certain qualities in nature have been identified as masculine. Certain other qualities have been identified as feminine. You may be a man, but if your Ida is more pronounced, the feminine may be dominant in you. You may be a woman, but if your Pingala is more pronounced, the masculine may be dominant in you. 7-Bringing a balance between the Ida and Pingala will make you effective in the world, it will make you handle life aspects well. Most people live and die in Ida and Pingala; Sushumna, the central space, remains dormant. But Sushumna is the most significant aspect of human physiology. Only when energies enter into Sushumna, life really begins. 8-Fundamentally, Sushumna is attribute-less, it has no quality of its own. It is like empty space. If there is empty space, you can create anything you want. Once energies enter into Sushumna, we attain to Vairagya. “Raga,” means color. “Vairag,” means no color, you have become transparent. If you have become transparent, if what is behind you is red, you turn red too. If what is behind you is blue, you turn blue too.Wherever you are, you become a part of that, but nothing sticks to you. Only if you are like this, only if you are in a state of Vairag, then you will dare to explore all dimensions of life when you live here. 9-Right now, you are reasonably balanced, but if for some reason the outside situation goes crazy, you will also go crazy in reaction to that because that is the nature of Ida and Pingala. It is reactive to what is outside. But once the energies enter into Sushumna, you attain to a new kind of balance, an inner balance where whatever happens outside, there is a certain space within you which never gets disturbed, which is never in any kind of turmoil, which cannot be touched by the outside situations. Only if you create this stable situation within yourself, you will dare to scale the peaks of consciousness. WHAT IS A MERIDIAN( Jing lou) IN CHINESE TERM?- MEANING OF MERIDIAN( Jing lou);-
02 FACTS;- 1-In Traditional Chinese Medicine, a meridian ( Jing lou) is a channel through which qi and the other fundamental substances flow. They are known by many different names, such as acupuncture meridians, acupoints, and energy vessels. 2-The meridians function as a network, much like a highway system, that can be mapped out throughout the entire body. They are similar to the circulatory system in western medicine, but it needs to be emphasized that meridians are non-physical.The three functional entities are:- 2-1-The Five Fundamental Substances: The substances that give rise to and maintain life. They are: - 1-Vital life energy (Qi) 2-Blood (Xue) 3-Body Fluids( Jinye) 4-Essence(Jing) 5-Spirit (Shen) 2-2-A set of 5 pairs of yin-yang organs that produce the Five Fundamental Substances is called--Zang-fu 2-3- The channels that connect the Zang-fu organs and regulate the flow of the fundamental substances throughout the body is called-Jing-luo 3-If you have ever seen an acupuncture model and have wondered what the several points or dots on the body are, they are the location points for specific meridians. There are about 400 acupuncture points (not counting bilateral points twice) most of which are situated along the major 20 pathways i.e. 12 primary and 8 extraordinary channels. Here we will know about the twelve Major Meridians;-- THE TWELVE MAJOR MERIDIANS;-
04 FACTS;- 1-The Twelve Major Meridians are the primary meridians through which qi flows. They are located in each arm and leg, have yin-yang properties. Each meridian is a Yin Yang pair, meaning each Yin organ is paired with its corresponding Yang Organ. 2-There are six yin meridians that are located in the inner region of the arms, legs, chest, and torso. The six yang meridians are located on the outer region of the arms, legs, head, and torso. 3-In total, there are three yin meridians (heart, lung, and pericardium) and three yang meridians (small intestine, large intestine, and sanjiao) of the arm, as well as three yin meridians (liver, kidney, spleen) and three yang meridians (urinary bladder, gall bladder, and stomach) of the leg. 4-This collection of three yin and three yang patterns is referred to as Six Meridian Theory. The theory describes the type of yin-yang qi and degree to which sunlight is received, which is based on its position on the body, from most external to most internal. 5-SIX MERIDIANS THEORY;-
06 FACTS;- 1- Greater yang(Tai Yang-) Most external. Posterior position. 2-Brightness yang(Yang Ming-)Anterior position (situated at or directed toward the front) 3-Lesser yang(Shao Yang-) Posterior position. 4-Greater yin(Tai Yin-) Anterior position. Where lung and spleen qi interact. 5--Lesser yin(Shao Yin) Posterior position. Where heart and kidney qi interact. 6-Absolute yin(Jue Yin-) Most internal. Lateral or middle position. Where liver and pericardium qi interact. MERIDIAN TIME FLOW; IN A CLOCK LIKE MANNER;-
03 FACTS;- 1-This special arrangement of the Twelve Major Meridians allows for the body to function in a clock-like manner. The qi in the meridians flow according to a kind of circadian cycle, based on the time of day. Because of the connection between the meridian and the Zang-fu, this cycle can be used to pinpoint and treat illnesses. 2-Like with all yin-yang pairs, each of the Twelve Main Meridians exists as a connecting pair that establishes an internal-external relationship with the Zang and fu organs. Each arm meridian has a leg meridian counterpart. These meridians also affect each other’s Zang-fu pairing. For example, illness of the heart or its meridian is treated through healing via the meridian points of the kidney. 3-How to get that Yang Qi Moving? In general we want to move the Qi in the Yang meridians with vigor, and nourish the Qi in the Yin meridians with presence, poise, and calmness. In practice this translates into quicker strokes along the Yang areas of the body and slower, deeper contact on the Yin areas. To affect the Qi in the meridians, prompt yourself during a massage to “feel for the Qi” and then allow your body to answer via your hands-on technique.
