MEANING OF AUTO-SUGGESTION;

Autosuggestion is a psychological technique related to the placebo effect. It is a form of self-induced suggestion in which individuals guide their own thoughts, feelings, or behavior. The technique is often used in self-hypnosis.

WHAT IS AUTO-SUGGESTION?-

04 FACTS;-

1-Auto-suggestions are suggestions to the subconscious mind to substitute wrong actions, thoughts or reactions with appropriate actions, thoughts or reactions.

2-To explain in simple terminology, auto-suggestions are suggestions to the subconscious mind to behave appropriately and correctly.

3-Making the mind understand the view accepted by it very affectionately is an auto-suggestion. Here, the individual gives the appropriate suggestion through the conscious mind to the subconscious mind as needed.

4-Suppose you wake up late in the morning because of the Personality defect ( PD) of laziness, then other chores get delayed. You are delayed in going to the office and this irritates you. To avoid this, you need to overcome the PD of laziness. For this, you need to tell your mind that ‘When my alarm rings in the morning I will wake up at once’. Saying this to the mind consistently is known as an auto-suggestion.

WHAT IS THE TIME OF TAKING AUTO-SUGGESTION?

04 FACTS;-

1-Suggestions are taken more readily when your conscious mind, the guard at the gate is “off duty”. This happens most often during:

1-Sleep

2-Driving

3-Immersive work (aka/also known as flow)

4-Hypnotic trance-like states (like meditation)

5-Relaxing activities (like television)

2-Watching television is a form of hypnosis. Advertisers know this, so they take advantage. This is one reason why subliminal advertisments are banned in many countries around the world.

3-For the purpose of autosuggestion, meditation in an isolated environment is the most effective tool.

Meditation involves relaxing into an awake yet comfortable state. This puts you into a trance, which opens your subconscious mind to greater influence.

WHAT IS THE NEED OF AUTO-SUGGESTION?-

04 FACTS;-

1-When we face obstacles in our lives we not always try to overcome them by ourselves, but we rather tend to believe that we will certainly get some help from the world. We listen to the advice of friends and not-so-friends, family, read all sorts of articles and watch television programs and wait. Suggestion, which is a pretty powerful tool, plays a very important role here.

2-However, it is not always able to help us, and very often it may even do harm. Everyone has heard stories about how someone robbed people using suggestion. But you can also remember the stories with happy endings, for example, the ones about the placebo effect.

3-But what if one uses such a powerful tool as the suggestion for peaceful purposes such as helping and healing themselves? Why would you rely on others when you can solve your problems without their help?

4- With the help of suggestion not only you can improve your mood, but you can also achieve goals and even fight diseases! The main thing is to believe in the power of your own thoughts.

IS THE NEED OF AUTO-SUGGESTION PROVED?

04 FACTS;-

1-A well-known notion is that humans do not use the abilities of their brain at 100%, and most of them are still not disclosed. We all have some kind of hidden reserves, capable of performing miracles. These include self-suggestion, which is a striking force capable of even healing.

2-You can find plenty of examples to see it in action. For example, Italian

physician Fabrizio Benedetti who treated patients with Parkinson’s disease gave them simple saline solution instead of their usual medications containing dopamine. 3-As a result, patients showed the same reaction as to the real drug. With this experiment, Fabrizio Benedetti proved that the introduction of saline solution as a result of autosuggestion triggered the production of dopamine in the body of the patients.

4-Similar results were also obtained by other doctors and scientists who were experimenting in the field of anesthesia of the body, as well as by those trying to find the cure for rheumatism, stomach adhesions, and even cancer.

HOW CAN WE MAKE IT POSSIBLE?-

02 FACTS;-

1-But how to believe in black when it is white? If you know something for sure, it is hard to convince yourself in the opposite. It is easy to believe in something because of the lack of awareness, even if this deception is for the sake of a good cause, and instead of painkillers a patient takes a piece of chalk.

2-Blind faith in its healing properties will unavoidably relieve pain. But it is difficult to make yourself believe that you are taking a great effective medication knowing that it is chalk. And without faith there will be no result.

WHAT IS THE ELIGIBLITY OF AUTO-SUGGESTION?-

02 FACTS;-

1-Imagination is the way to the healing and effective autosuggestion.

We can try an experiment. Lie down as comfortably as possible, completely relax and close your eyes. Imagine a cold winter day, snowflakes, wind and an ice lake. Imagine an ice hole in the middle of the lake and a person wearing a lightweight swimsuit and getting ready to dip into the hole. Do you have goosebumps? If yes, then you have managed to ‘take’ yourself to that place.

2-In order to achieve noticeable results in this field, train your imagination trying to visualize that you are cold when in reality it is hot and vice versa, or that you have no pain when you do. You will see that very soon you will be able to perform miracles with the power of your thought. And most importantly – believe in yourself and always have a positive attitude.

HOW TO PRACTICE AUTO-SUGGESTION TECHNIQUES?

02 FACTS;-

1-Auto suggestion is the strongest mind programming tool that you can use in your life. It is always accessible, easy and you can perform it at any place any time that you want to.

2-The main problem is that most of us use the tool in an unconscious manner. This is what usually holds many people back from attaining what they need to do in their life.

THE FIVE TECHNIQUES;-

To assist to boost our abilities and help take full control over our life, please refer to the following autosuggestion techniques:-

1-PREPARING FOR MENTAL DIET(Thirty-day ;-

02 FACTS;-

1-The first thing you should do is to begin by focusing your attention on your own self-talk. Whenever you realise that you are involved in negative self-talk, you should make sure that you erase or delete it.

2-You need to replace it using stronger positive words. Some of these thoughts might include doubt, fear or even self-loathing. This is a technique that will involve cancelling negative words and thoughts.

2-APPLY AUTO-SUGGESTION AFFIRMATIONS;-

Affirmation refers to positive. This is the present tense that is usually used in the first person. In this technique, you will need to use it just as you do to affirmations. In the long end, you will realize that you have filled your mind with a lot of positive things.

3-MAKE USE OF REPETITION;-

03 FACTS;-

If we apply the mental diet as it is recommended above, we will be amazed because of the many times we say derogatory and negative things to ourself or about ourself.

2-All we need to do is to make sure that we counter the negative programming we might have with a lot of repetition. 3-This is something that we can do silently, in our own privacy or even we can do it loudly in case we need to do so.

4-APPLY VISUALIZATION;-

02 FACTS;-

1-Visualization is the best language of our subconscious mind. This is an auto suggestion example that involves a psychology of visualizing ourself doing something in the appropriate manner.

2-This helps make a powerful impression on our subconscious mind. This is one of the strongest mind programming techniques that we can apply.

5-USE ALPHA LEVEL;-

07 FACTS;-

1-Our brain has five brain wave states:

Gamma – high processing tasks

Beta – predominant awake state

Alpha – highly relaxed state

Theta – very relaxed state, near sleep but still awake

Delta – sleep

2-The average adult has a high level of beta wave neural activity, which is characteristic of a fully formed prefrontal cortex.

3-The prefrontal cortex doesn’t really start to develop until age 11 or 12. It isn’t fully formed until 25. The prefrontal cortex is responsible for decision-making, concentration, self-discipline, and other aspects that we associate with a rational human being.

4-Because this prefrontal cortex (and the brain in general) is not fully developed, children have mostly theta brain waves.

5-Infants have solely delta wave activity. In fact, an infant may appear to be awake when he/she is actually asleep.

Since children need to learn a great deal about their environment, they are operating on a subconscious theta wave state most of the time.

6-This is why children are easily influenced. They hear and see everything that’s going on all the time because they are operating from a subconscious level.

7-In case you are aware of meditation or self-hypnosis strategies that make your mind comfortable, you need to apply them. If you do not know them, all you need to do is to close your eyes and breath in and out for some minutes as you count from twenty to one backwards.

HOW CAN WE USE AUTOSUGGESTION IN MEDITATION?06 FACTS;-

1-This is good to do before and after meditation (as opposed to DURING meditation) for the beginner and advanced student alike. (This is traditionally included in the form of loving kindness meditation e.g. "May I/all beings be free from suffering" etc.)

2-Autosuggestion engages the subconscious mind, and or a hypnotic state where one can induce self-oriented behaviors. This is not in keeping with calm abiding meditation, or insight meditation. One needs to stay awake and mindful in order to direct the meditation. In calm abiding the goal is to empty the mind of conceptual thoughts or at least push them aside so as not to dwell on them. One can use a focal point such as a picture of a deity, or the breath.

3-However, when using an aid do not allow yourself to become hypnotized...keep mindful. This clear mind meditation will eventually lead to insight meditation, where one can meditate solely on matters related to dharma, without being interrupted by what needs to go on your grocery list!! Your success will come with practice. Your procrastination is an obstacle to be overcome, and that too is a beneficial practice.

4-DURING meditation , it is generally important to focus on practicing the technique: calmness abiding or naked awareness. On the other hand, one can use affirmations to summon specific qualities.

For example, the FIVE TATTWAS are important to have in balance. One can make up affirmations relative for each characteristic. For example for mindfulness: "my mindfulness faculty is balanced and strong"

5-The main objective of meditation is soothing the soul. This objective is achieved through relaxation, closed eyes, regulated breathing, an attempt to detach oneself from external stimuli and influences, avoidance of disturbing thoughts and the desire to reach the "peaceful realm".

6-Some meditation techniques include the repeated self affirmation of a mantra. Mediation has a suggestive impact on the body and mind seeing that the individual applying this technique wishes consciously to achieve peace and serenity while consciously and unconsciously detaching from mundane worries. The meditating individual creates, over time, a kind of conditioning aimed at reaching relaxation whenever beginning the meditation process.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AUTOSUGGESTION & MEDITATION?;-

04 FACTS;-

1-While in meditation self suggestion is more of an indirect and side effect of the relaxation method, the self persuasion performed in the process of autosuggestion is direct and intended to generate a willful, directed and focused impact on the subconscious.

2- Autosuggestion is a tool for achieving various objectives and not only tranquility and inner serenity. Similarly to meditation, autosuggestion is also comprised of the constant repetition of certain words.

3-Meditation has the advantage of being a pleasant and calm method in which time is not pressing. Autosuggestion, on the other hand, conveys the message more rapidly and directly, but it lacks an organized method and supportive establishment.

4-Both meditation and autosuggestion are techniques that are not practiced persistently, whether due to their monotonous nature, the fact that their results are not immediately apparent, the fact that daily pressures and troubles distract us from them and overtake our agenda, and whether due to the easier option of using chemical sedatives.

HOW CAN WE COMBINE THE ADVANTAGES OF BOTH METHODS?-

Medisuggestion combines autosuggestion and the method of meditation. The concept is very simple: instead of whispering a mantra during meditation, repeatedly whisper words of suggestive content, such as: "I am peaceful and calm, I am peaceful and calm, I am always peaceful and calm". The message will slowly permeate into your subconscious and when you are more relaxed, so will be your body, including its autonomies.

WHEN SHOULD WE CAN APPLY MEDISUGGESTION?-

05 FACTS;-

1-When we are tense and upset by a significant issue that bothers us and interferes with our peace of mind, we may experience symptoms resembling a slight emotional trauma, such as sleeplessness and recurring thoughts of the same issue, overrunning the everyday routine and refusing to let up.

2-The mind is overwhelmed by the issue in a manner that may even interfere with our ability to function. Indeed, one can take a sedative(sleeping pill), but such an option bears with it side effects. It interferes with concentration, causes drowsiness and may impair proper thought processes, not to mention addiction and long term effects to the brain.

3-When we are in a state of medisuggestion, constantly whispering words of self relaxation, we introduce a "new player" into our mind. This player, appearing as the suggestive chant, slowly pushes aside the annoying thoughts and takes over the mind in their stead, while conveying a message of peace and serenity to the body and soul. The efficient suggestive effect is achieved in two manners:-

A. The direct auto suggestive message;

B. The indirect method of meditation, i.e. everything surrounding us - the atmosphere, the sense of serenity and the conditioning.

4-The impact of this method increases with practice. The "new player" gains power and acquires strength. As time goes by, those temporary worries and tensions that bothered us and which medisuggestion helped us get rid of, fade away and disappear.

5-When we once again enter a state of stress and tension and we repeat the routine and familiar words of relaxation we perceive the temporal problems from a different perspective. The annoying and bothersome problem seems to be temporary and fleeting as compared to that "player" in our mind, who has gained experience and proven itself.

THREE KEY POINTS;-

1-After studying the method and growing accustomed to it, there is no need to implement it daily, but rather when it is truly necessary, and 10-20 minutes are enough for it to work. The method is especially effective when it is most needed, i.e. when waking up at night because of the annoying problem. It is at this stage, when we are neither asleep nor awake, that our subconscious is more exposed to suggestive influences, more open to receive them and more effectively influenced by them.

2-Another advantage of this method over meditation is in its ability to prepare us for an expected difficult and nerve racking event, such as a charged encounter, stressful interview, difficult test, clarification discussion, trial, medical procedure and the likes.

3-Using this method, we can convey a personal message for the future, such as: "Tomorrow, during the interview, I will be calm and serene" through repetition. This method also provides for other future suggestions, such as: "I will be in focus" or "I will be confident". This method increases the level of concentration when "taking the test", unlike a sedative which might even impair concentration levels.
