WHAT IS PRANAYAMA ?--
1-Pranayama is mainly a Kriya (exercise) with air. The Sanskrit word ’prana’ means breath or life force, while ‘ayama’ means regulation or control. Pranayama is a scientific method of controlling the breath, leading to better health for both mind and body.
2-Pranayama is the fourth part of the Astang Yoga (eight limbs) described by Patanjali in the Yogasutra.
WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE OF PRANAYAMA?----
04 FACTS;-- 1-Breathing is the only means to supply our bodies and its various organs with the supply of oxygen which is vital for our survival and purifies the blood stream, removes waste products and toxins from the body.
2-Breathing also affects our state of mind. It can make us excited or calm, tense or relaxed. It (oxygen) is essential for the integrity of the brain, nerves, glands and internal organs. So deep and long breathing is the secret of vitality and rejuvenation 3-As we know air possesses several unique qualities. It contains life force pran shakti. It also has absorbing activating and massaging capacity. Because of these qualities, the air is regarded as a great purifier as well as giver of life to the inner organs of the body. The body makes good use of these qualities of air during pranayama. 4-By controlling the prana, one can control all the forces of the universe such as gravity, magnetism, electricity and nerve currents. Thus prana refers to energy as the basis of all life.
Thus the objective of Pranayama is to stimulate, communicate, regulate and control the vital life force that exists in the body. WHAT IS PURAK,RECHACKA,& KUMBHAKA?---
03 FACTS;-- 1-The breathing process chiefly involves two activities, viz., inhaling and exhaling. Of these the former is called "Puraka" and the latter "Rechaka"' in Yogashastra. The state when these two activities are made to halt is given the name "Kumbhaka" in Yoga Studies.
2-The halt after inhaling, i.e., Puraka is called "Abhyantara Kumbhaka" and after exhaling, i.e. rechaka. It is called "Bahya Kumbhaka". 3-Meanings of these three terms,------- Purak : Inhalation of breath Rechacka :Exhalation of breath Kumbhaka : Retention of breath
HOW CAN WE MAKE PRANVAYU STRONG ?---
07 FACTS;--
1-Our body is a whirl of energy in the universal prana-ic ocean. The yogis perceive distinctly these exchanges of energy with the environment. They even managed to differentiate between these types of energy, and they named them vayu – subtle energy.
2-The basic sense of the term vayu is sky, which would make someone think of the regular sky, with its chemical components – oxygen, azoth, rare gases. However, the yogis understand by this word the energies that circulate through the air, in the process of breathing.
3-One absorbs pranaic energy from the surroundings through prana vayu.Once the energies are absorbed in the microcircuit of our organism, they have to be personalized and assimilated – this is the function of samana vayu.Once the body assimilated them, they need to circulate throughout the organism, which is the function of prana vayu. Udana vayu allows the direction and the expression of the energies. The final stage is the elimination, when these energies return to their previous environment. All the functions that concur in this process belong to apana vayu. 4-Deep breathing helps man execute more tasks daily and gives zest too. Hard working laborers use more energy and hence should tire quickly. But this is not seen and they appear stronger. The chief reason for this is that with more hard work their lungs too work more and hence more blood purification takes place.
5-Deep breathing beneficially influences the brain. The benefits include good memory power and zest for life. Lungs are at work predominantly in air circulation in the physical body. In the subtle body it is carried out by the navel center. The physical body inhales/exhales air via the nose whereas the subtle body circulates air. Prana is an electric force which like oxygen is merged in air. Via inhalation and exhalation it comes and goes. Of course its existence is very much different from air. No doubt salt is mixed in ocean water and yet they exist slightly apart. 6-Prana is an energy flow that flows in the subtle nerves of the subtle body. Just as despite blood and its veins have a strong bond yet they exist apart from one another. Similarly although a strong bond exists between subtle nerves of subtle body and Prana that flows in it yet they exist separately. 7-Preliminarily we can say that via control of Prana such Sidhis (Divine Powers) can be attained for which modern science will take centuries to attain. Misuse of atomic energy is as harmful for the doer as it is for the enemy. Keeping this in mind Indian Yoga Seers unearthed such Pranayama exercises which can be performed by a person of any physical/mental state.
PRECAUTIONS;-
05 FACTS;--
Over here we shall elucidate /explain,Three such Pranayamas; Before doing Japa (Mantra chanting) daily. But first of all, take care of precaution;-- 1) Practice Pranayama on an empty stomach. 2) The place should be pure with fresh air. Never practice Pranayama where there is foul stench. 3) Initially perform only 1 or 2 Pranayamas and only later increase time and number. 4) After performing Pranayama for 1 hour do not lift heavy objects. 5) Praqna energy in its pure aspect has potential of electricity. Hence just like laws of electricity until the newly generated Prana (vital force) is not properly ‘digested’ till then do not touch metals that conduct electricity. There is no harm in touching gold, silver ornaments and others of its class. PRAN MANTRA;---
