1-What SRI GANESH Stands For------ Ganesha has four arms which symbolize his status as the universal ruler and establish his power over the four categories of beings - 1-Those who can live only in water, 2-Those who can live in water and on earth, 3-Those who can live only on earth 4-Those who can fly in air. 2-Significance of FOUR r ----- It was god Ganesha who instituted the four castes and the four Vedas. One hymn in Sri Bhagavat Tattva , says: 'In heaven, this child will establish the predominance over gods, on earth over men, in the nether world over anti-gods and serpents. He causes the four principles of the elements to move and is therefore four armed. In one hand, he holds a shell, in another a discus, in the third a club or a sweet and in the fourth a lotus.' Thus, all aspects of Ganesh's form are filled with symbolic meanings. 3-The VEHICLE of SRIGANESH ------ The mouse is the vehicle of Vinayaka. What is the inner significance of the mouse?------ The mouse has a keen sense of smell. The mouse is a symbol of the attachment to worldly tendencies (vaasanas). It is well known that if you want to catch a mouse, you place a strong-smelling edible inside the mouse-trap. The mouse also symbolizes the darkness of night. The mouse can see well in the dark. As Vinayaka's vehicle the mouse signifies an object that leads man from darkness to light. The Vinayaka-principle, thus, means that which removes all the bad qualities, practices and thoughts in men and inculcates good qualities, good conduct and good thoughts. 4-What does "VINAYAKA " Mean----- "Vinayaka". means one who is clad in white. Vishnum means he is all-pervading. Sasivarnam means his complexion is grey like that of ash. Chathurbhujam means he has four arms. Prasannavadanam means he has always a pleasing mien. Sarvavighnopasaanthaye means for the removal of all obstacles. Dhyaayeth, means meditate (on him). 5-SRI GANESH as the SCRIBE ----- Ganesha is accepted as the god of learning and the Patron Deity of letters and scriptures. Ganesh's tusk is used by him in the writing of the epic, the Mahabharata. When Vyasa wanted to compose the Mahabharata, Brahma suggested Ganesha be his scribe. Vyasa agreed and Ganesha brought his broken tusk as a writing quill. Vyasa dictated the entire epic in verse. Ganesha recorded every word for Gods and men alike. 6-The MYSTERIOUS KETU & Powerful SRI GANESH ------ 1-In Vedic Astrology Rahu and Ketu are considered “shadow” planets in that they do not have a physical mass but are the mathematical juncture points of the Moon and Sun’s orbit at which point eclipses occur. These energetic points carry a tremendous amount of power and hidden influence on our human psyche. 2-Rahu, is the Northern node of the Moon, and Ketu is the Southern node. Ketu in particular is the most mysterious of the nine planets. 3-Ketu is called as a “Moksha Karaka”, an indicator of liberation, has the potential to give enlightenment, bliss and no rebirth when placed in 12th House in a chart. A person influenced by Ketu is gifted with healing abilities, psychic power, mastery of herbology, tantric capabilities and, on the negative side, ghost related ailments. When Ketu is favorable in a natal chart he brings a lot of luxury, wisdom, spirituality etc. 4-The Vedic deity Ganesha is closely associated with Ketu and is the planetary Overlord of Ketu. Lord Ganesha when prayed to also gives the Moksha (enlightenment) and obtains all the above through Ketu. Even the traditional forms of Ketu and Ganesha are related. The body of Ganesha was created by Goddess Parvati out of clay, then had life infused into it. Later Ganesha had his head decapitated (see below mythology) and it was replaced with an elephant head. 5-Similarly Ketu is the lower half of a severed snake and head-less. Whenever Ketu is placed in the sign of Sagittarius he is also known as Gaja Roopa (face of an elephant God). 6-To enhance the benefic effects of Ketu, when favourable placed in a natal chart, and reduce the negative effects,, when unfavourable, one can propitiate either Ketu or Ganesha to please. .............SHIVOHAM...........
